Rise & Ruin Returns to Closed Development After a Successful Open Beta

Summary: Rise & Ruin is returning to closed development to build out the gameplay experience for past, present, and future players for continued fun and fury. Rise & Ruin will remain up in its current state, 24/7. We simply want to let you, our community, and any potential future community members know that we are ending this round of Open Beta, and are turning our complete attention to finishing development of key areas of Rise & Ruin.

Over the past two months of Open Beta, we have received generous feedback from you, our community, and are very appreciative for your support. We have issued five Game Updates during that time, which addressed a number of areas, from Skill balancing to browser-specific issues.

Part of our original design plans called for:

  • Additional card types for more advanced and strategic gameplay
  • More modes of participation, including single-player options
  • Ways of automating complex processes, such as leaderboards and tournaments

Your feedback affirmed our plans, and our small team will be working heads-down and tirelessly to complete our design vision.

What this means for you as a player and community member

Rise & Ruin will continue to remain up and in its current state, available for play 24/7 at your leisure, until we return to Open Beta. As mentioned before during this period, our development team will be focusing completely on creating the next iteration of Rise & Ruin after this productive round of Open Beta testing.

Again, due to the very small size of our team, this means it is very unlikely we will be releasing any new content or Game Updates until we return to Open Beta.

The focus of the articles published on the site will also be shifting from general information about Rise & Ruin (such as Battle Tips, Contests, Trivia, and so forth) to updates about our development progress, and other relevant information to keep you up-to-date on exactly how we are progressing on accomplishing these goals.

How you can remain an active force

We will continue to hold Friday Night Fights, every single Friday, at 7:30pm EST. Attending FnF will earn you additional rewards, the opportunity to battle other players, and also the chance to get updates on our progress from our development team. We want to encourage the entire community to attend FnF, every week, if they possibly can.

When Rise & Ruin returns to Open Beta, we know you will greatly enjoy the end result by being able to see a more complete vision of our design, and changes you have helped to inspire.

If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a comment in this thread, or e-mail your Community Manager GM-Burdenday at burdenday at riseandruin dot com.

Everyone on the Rise & Ruin team appreciates your continued support! We look forward to returning to Open Beta after this period of closed development as we continue to ramp towards launch!
