Featured Card: Block

Card Description: Withstand your opponent's attack with a timely block.

The recent changes in the “New Math” Update have made focusing on Defense a more relevant strategy than ever before. Block is one of the two current Defense cards – you very likely have a number of these in your deck – and could very easily make you the victor over your opponent.

Since you can only currently store Defense and Modifier cards in the Storage Row, consider adding a collection of low or no cost cards, such as Block, to your deck and defend at every turn possible. You’ll take less damage, and be able to outlast your opponent, even if you usually wouldn’t be able to out damage him. Give it a try!

Don’t have blocking power in your deck? Grab a defense booster pack!

Either Defense systems are

Either Defense systems are still a bit underpowered in my opinion ...
I mean the opponent uses 2 mana to hit you for 5k dmg.
With Block for 0 mana you can mitigate like 500 damage
and with 1 mana maybe 1.000 damage.
Even tho the values on the block cards would be around 3k or 4k.

I agree, defense still feels

Original Fire: Founding Fighter

I agree, defense still feels a bit weak. However, I think that's necessary, since I know I would be really ticked off if someone blocked a 5 mana attack with a 1 mana defend. It's already risky to have too many high-cost mana cards in your deck, and I would like to see more strategies encouraged than the current "use only 0, 1, and some 2/3 mana cards".

Also, I have to say that it's a bit sad that defend/evade do the exact same thing. I think it'd be much more interesting if they had different effects. For example, keep block how it is now. Change evade so it has a small percentage to COMPLETELY negate the attack (and percentage rises as power goes up). Again, this is a big change so it'd need to be playtested for a while.

Good points

Thanks for the feedback regarding the current defense systems -- I'm forwarding along these comments to the rest of the development team.

The values on the block cards aren't currently as transparent as the values on attack cards, for this reason I certainly understand while it seems they are under-powered in comparison. I'll see what we can do about that. For now though, just know the higher the number the better damage it will mitigate. However, no card will completely block all of the damage of any other card under the current system.

Chetyre: I like your idea about differentiating the types of blocking, too.

We'd love to hear any other suggestions you have for the defense system!
