Chapter 8: Beyond Redemption

Regrouping into ranks, the Rulers' chosen arbiters gazed across the battlefield. Heavily burdened, the masses of humbled warriors stood with the survival of their speices in their hands. Mercifully, they were spared the knowledge that the fate of the entire Universe hung in the balance. That would have been too much to bear. Their thoughts escaped towards the darker shadows of destiny's corners. History would look kindly on one lone race; its name etched into eternity. If they came out alive, the warriors' descendants would cross borders without fear and command complete obeisance in the Universe. Death and extinction were unthinkable, victory was the only option. The lines had been drawn and retreat was truly unfathomable. Brothers would fall, fathers would be buried and children's souls would become hollow, but these deaths paled in comparison to the eternal damnation of their species. Aphroridae, Chief Giobhniu, and Lord Veles stepped forward from the fatigued warriors, each determined to will their species to immortality and cement their mark on history. The Divine War was about to define an entire Universe and the fearless leaders of each race stood, unwittingly, in the eye of the storm.
