{Suggestion} Players dropping near the end of the match

This has been happening more and more lately. You play a whole match and just before the last hit lands they close the game, leaving you with alot of wasted time and no new skill points.

I'd like to find a way to stop this from happening. I under stand that sometimes the internet can drop a connection at the worst time, but too often this is not the case. My proposed "fix" is this:

When a player disconnects mid battle they get flagged as a deserter(or coward if you want to be mean). This flag appears next to thier character name in the chat room. That way people will know that the person who they are fighting has been known to leave mid battle. Once the deserter completes a battle the flag is cleared and they can go on with thier day.

This way people arn't punished for a bad connection, but if they constantly have the flag then others know that fighting them isn't worth thier time.

If anyone has any other suggestions please voice them here.

Interesting idea. We award

Interesting idea.

We award a skill point to the loser, that is supposed to make it "worthwhile" to complete the battle (otherwise they are penalizing themselves too!). Do you find it's mostly newbies doing this?

@ Spore: Yes its mostly

Yes its mostly newbies doing this...

Okay, but i would walk a little further:

After leaving a battle they should be given 5 minutes to relog and restart the battle for they might have had inet issues.

If they dont flag them green.
If they leave the battle before it ends a second time flag them yellow, and if they do it a third time flag them red.

If they start battleing like they should there should be reflagged. If they were red for example, they should get yellow after fighting a battle to its end, green after the second an unflagged after the third battle fought without quitting early.

If they are red-flagged and still dont stop to quit battles early you should deduct them a point (0.1 per cent i mean) from their skills.

Ok. Thats it. This system would work definately i think and i hope it will not be too hard to implement something according to this :)

Yes spore, it's mainly new players. i think they either don't realize that they still get points for losing, or they think that if they quit a losing battle then thier "record" is still "perfect"(0 loses).

I think the flagging is enough, since it denies them future battles. But i do like Stalker's multiple level idea. Since, by quiting the match, they are already denying themselves skill points, I don't see the need to take more of them away.

my suggestion is to implement the flags first. Then, if that has no effect on the problem, implement the skill reduction.

I'm honestly suprised that this is even a problem since the loser of a fight still gets skill points. But this has happened often enough that i felt action was needed.

Some one left the game and

Some one left the game and thats why i did not get nothing for the shiny pointy cards event.
I don't think there should be a green flag I think the two are enough i do get bad connections sometimes but the game wont load.
And then i close the window open again it's perfeto if it repeats that again just turn of the modem for 5 minutes then turn it on and enjoy. :)

this is a good idea, but

I think i got a better one. create a subprogram that tracks how and when a connection is lost. such as, if a connection is lost do to closing down the window, or if it is lost due to a malfuntioning internet connection or a malfunctioning computer. then if its because the player just closed down the window, then you can deduct .1 from there playing creature. do this along with the first idea than you got it so they get punished for doing, and so that they will be warning people of what they are doing.
