Lord Gralamin was raised among a family of nobles, but was not of noble blood. People assumed he was thru his centuries of living with his family. His thoughts always brought him back to that day...
The coldest winter of his lifetime had come and he was a baby Ralak then...barely able to maintain his warmth through the cold and the door in front of him opened and he saw a woman....
Gralamin shook his head, that was the past and he could not change the fate that brought him here. He opened his eyes and saw his trusty blade propped up against the wall. He gives a smile and lifted its reassuring weight. "Maybe i ought to train a bit. I've heard that a battle was stirring and heading our way" He said. He donned his decorative armor and hefted his shield. It felt light than last time he actually used it. "Maybe the gods are on my side today." He started walking out of his bedroom when he heard footsteps right outside his door.
"Who goes there?" Gralamin said.
"Just your breakfast my lord" He opened the door and a servant he never recognized handed him breakfast and scurried down the hall again. He took a few bites out of his breakfast and heading the other way down the hallway to where he heard clashing and yelling and the shuffling of the nurses running down to help those who got a bit too aggressive. He sheathed his sword and opened the door. The first thing he saw was a couple of younger soldiers yelling and swinging their swords at each other, Each time clanging against another blade as the other soldier parried his blade and started to attack, and again the blade was parried by his opponent's. Ralak walked up to them and hailed them. they both sheathed their swords and saluted, they both were a bit sloppy but the newer soldiers never could get it down the first few times. "I noticed you both sparring against each other and I want to show you guys how its really done". They both stood there baffled whether to challenge him or leave. Gralamin drew his blade and all they heard was a hiss as the blade left its scabbard. "So you want us both to fight you?" one said.
Gralamin shrugged and stood in a guarding stance, "Sure if you want to learn".
A crowd started to surround them, they both drew their swords and charged. He parried one blade and dragged it over to have the other one rest almost at the hilt of the blade. Gralamin broke away and lunged at one. His sword deflected it and Gralamin used the moment to swing around and slash at the other one. The blade slid right across his shoulder pad and the opponent dropped from the sheer force onto his pauldron. He walked out grabbing his shoulder and turned around to watch the duel between the lord and his friend.
Gralamin stood there barely breathing heavy and stood in a guard stance. He inspected his opponent. He was breathing heavy and looked like a breath would knock him over. He ran over and swung his blade and heard the reassuring scrape as it hit him on the hilt and disarmed him. His opponent picked up the blade and stood there, baffled. Gralamin pointed his sword at him and said " So, did i go too fast?".
"No, my lord" they both said simultaneously.
"Atleast they will stay alive a bit longer onto the field now" he though as he walked out of the door and headed to the front gates. He was greeted by a slightly cold breeze to his damp face. he breathed a sigh of relief and started off the walls.
A few minutes later he saw his messenger running towards him. "Catch your breath before you say a word" Gralamin said.
"...The Jix'su...They're attacking...Heading this way, my lord"
He gasped. Gralamin was surprised, why would the Jix'su attack us?We have done no harm to them yet"
The messenger said, "from my sources they are trying to conquer this land"Gralamin cursed silently, his men are not prepared for this.....
I'll do part 2 tomorrow...i feel like this would take forever to read.
