nehehya as well. I second the deletion thing. Most of those sites are malicious, my Avast! network shield and McAfee site advisor agree.

Just to let you guys know, over the past few days we've had a string of these users.

I've been deleting the posts, banning the IPs, and blocking the accounts. However, these guys have 15-20 IPs per login, so nothing more than being vigilant and avoiding the posts until I delete them is going to be effective.

We'll look into turning on a confirmation step for registration should this become more of an issue.

I've removed the most recent batch.

We are looking into additional protections for the site, that don't discourage players from trying out the game.

We should have a new system in place soon that should weed them out.

Hey everyone,

We have taken the first step to combat this issue. We now require accounts to validate their e-mail address, and follow a link to log in for the first time. This should resolve the forum spam issues.

If it does not, we will look into taking more aggressive steps to combat the onslaught of baby name, AVIS rental car, and Cialis advertisements making their way onto our forums.

Cerdric - I am not seeing them; however, another GM might have removed the spam.

It seems to be stopping at least some of the posts from coming through. I will keep looking into solutions.

I've setup a spam filter for the site based on URLs. If you notice anything on the site suddenly stop working, or your posts disappearing for no good reason, drop me an e-mail (burdenday at riseandruin dot com) or post here.

i think they simply just stopped adding links, im still seeing spam... but no links.

I have disabled non-admin from including links (for the moment).

These appear to be -real- people posting the links for cash. Since the links are completely stripped, I am hoping they will give up and go away.

This is a work in progress, and I have changed this forum topic to reflect as much. I've added a number of modules to try to hinder the spammers without much luck so far.

No need to update this thread when more posts show up, I am removing them as soon as I see them.

I just added a captcha to some forms which should also help, but time will tell.
